Dedication since the beginning.

In 1998 the Chapter  began holding monthly meetings in various locations around the City of Macon

It was the general consensus of all that a central meeting place was needed and the most logical and appropriate location would be at the Macon Fower Memorial Airport

Members of the chapter approached the City of Macon with a proposal to build an addition onto the existing airport terminal. Completely funded and built by the Chapter.

Chapter members took on the job of raising funds and purchasing everything needed for its’ completion.  The members stepped forward with machinery, materials, additional funds, and most of all their labor to accomplish the goal.

We are very proud of our founders. They constructed a place for all to come and share our passion -- aviation.  Even after the meeting facility was completed they didn’t stop.    Additional work with sidewalks and a patio area added the finishing touches and enhanced the appearance and usefulness of the area.

 - Take a look above on our Chapter's Heading to see all that can be done with a lot of teamwork and dedication to a final purpose.

We invite you to come and enjoy.

Our beginning & Purpose

In December 1997 a group of individuals with an interest in Aviation gathered to look into forming an EAA Chapter in the Macon County Area.   The establishment of a Chapter with Experimental Aircraft Association (E.A.A.) was voted on and membership in both national and local EAA began to grow.

In February 1998 the necessary paperwork was filed with the City of Macon ,County of Macon, and the State of Missouri for a Non-Profit Corporation adapting the name of Northeast Missouri EAA Chapter 1212. The period of duration of the corporation is perpetual. The Corporation is a public benefit corporation pursuant to Section 355.881, RSMO.

The purposes for which the corporation is organized are:

a. To promote and encourage the sport and hobby of recreational aviation.

b. To cooperate with and assist government agencies in the development of programs that promote and support recreational aviation.

c. To promote and encourage aviation, education and safety in the design, construction, restoration and flying of all types of aviation vehicles.

d. To provide aviation enthusiasts at all levels the opportunity to participate in grassroots aviation activities

Programs -

Young Eagles is a program that allows young people from the ages of 8 to 17 year old to  experience their first airplane ride absolutely free.  We are proud of our participation in the Young Eagle Program. Giving the young people of the area a chance to take wing and fly like the birds.  Our members have several types of aircraft at their disposal and all our pilots love to introduce young people to their passion of flying. For more details on Young Eagles visit EAA website www.youngeagles.org

Air Academy - In the past 4 years our chapter has had the opportunity to sponsor 4 young people to the Air Academy which takes place in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  For 2013 we are proud to be able to send two more young people to the EAA Air Academy.  One of our young people (Luke S) will be attending the Basic Academy and Deanna G will be attending the Advanced.  Both of these young people have an interest in Aviation and let's face it the Future of Aviation is in our young people.  This makes a total 6 young we have had the privilege to grant them look at what we all have a great passion for  Aviation - Flying - Fellowship.  This program introduces the different age groups of people to all the aspects of flying, designing, building. etc.  Visit http://www.youngeagles.org/programs/airacademy  for more information.

2013 Candidates for Air Academy are just counting the days to the date of their adventure - Camp.  All of the paperwork and tuition has been completed and to say they are alittle anxious for the big day is to say the least.  We as a chapter strive to advance the knowledge of all who are interested in aviation.  Young people with Air Academy and Young Eagles and Adults with the new Eagles program and invitation to participate in our monthly meetings and events.  Aviation is in the hands of our young people and it looks like they are very good hands.

Eagle Flights In the spring of 2012 a brand new program is being introduced and I am please to announce that we will be promoting it.  The new program is Eagle Flights.  Like young Eagles this program will introduce  the joy of flight but to adults at no cost.   All that is necessary is that you wish to see and feel the experience of Flight.
